I do love a Ladies Retreat!
This year's retreat was no exception. It was an encouraging, uplifting, and jest plain fun time, surrounded by good, Godly friends. What more could you ask for?
Naturally, there was a fair amount of stress involved getting out the door- the kids were fussing, the house was in disarray from Mom and I flying around, and I was desperately trying not to forget anything vital. My precious baby trifle (I call it a baby not because of its diminutive size but because of my attachment to it) had to be transported carefully out to the van and held snugly on my lap during the whole car ride.
I've just got to say something about that trifle. I spent hours assembling it, making the separate components, researching recipes. I loved that dark chocolate and coconut thing with practically a passion.

Now, I don't know if everyone else liked eating it as much as I liked making it, but I hope so!
The location for our church's Ladies Retreat was a lovely old house in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Our guest speaker was Mrs. Jaime Robertson, a good friend of Mrs. Royalty's.
Our evening was spent eating a wonderful meal, listening to a thought-provoking devotional, and playing games (and eating snacks once a bit of the dinner had worn off!).
The next morning dawned bright and clear but COLD! I decided to take a forest ramble with Susanna Peacock right after breakfast. We enjoyed the hike but were equally glad to get back to the warm house.
The morning passed quickly with more devotional sessions. We were blessed and encouraged by our theme, "An Oasis", and received many helpful ideas on making our homes a retreat from this world. Mrs. Royalty and Mrs. Robertson were a great blessing.
After the last session was finished, we reluctantly packed up and headed back to our normal lives- refreshed and strengthened!
